Carole McDonnell holds a BA degree in Literature
from SUNY Purchase and has spent most of her years surrounded by things
literary. Her writings appear in various anthologies including “So Long Been
Dreaming: Post-colonialism in science fiction,” edited by Nalo Hopkinson and
published by Arsenal Pulp Press; Fantastic Visions III" anthology
published by Fantasist Enterprises; “Jigsaw Nation” published by Spyre
publications, “Griots: A Sword and Soul anthology,”
edited by Milton Davis and Charles Saunders, “Life Spices from Seasoned
Sistahs: writings by mature women of color,” “Fantastic Stories of the
Imagination” edited by Warren Lapine and published by Wilder Publications. Her reviews appear in print and at various
online sites. She lives in New York’s Hudson Valley with her husband, two sons,
and their pets. Her novel, Wind Follower, was published by Wildside Books. Her other works include My Life as an Onion and The Boy
Next Door From Far Away , Seeds of Bible Study: How NOT to Study the Bible. Her
collection of short stories, Spirit Fruit: Collected Speculative Fiction, is
available on kindle.

My Short story, Homecoming was winner of New Mass Media=s,
Westchester Weekly, annual fiction contest in September 1996 and third place
winner of the Annual Contemporary Western Fiction Contest. My essay, My Son and
Mrs Torres, won honorable mention in the Writers Digest. Many of my poems have
been published in little magazines and journals.
I've written for The Quarterly Black Review of Books, Gannett
newspapers, and was a technical Editor for Research and Education Associates,
the publishers of MaxNotes, a small competitor of Cliff Notes.
My writing honors and
credits include being a Poetry Judge at the annual NAACP ACT-SO. I've been a
participant in NYC's The Women's Caucus for Art, and have won several fiction
contests.
I've also been a participant in HarperCollins Multicultural
Mentor Program, and used to be a member of the Society of Children's Book
Writers and Illustrators and the National Writers Union.
I've read at many venues including the African-American Read-In
- a national literacy cable project , Mercy College, Trinity School, Purchase
College, WHUD/WLNA, The Institute for Photographic Resources and other venues.
In addition, in the past, I was a Sunday school teacher, Bible
class teacher, and teaching assistant.
In addition to writing specfic, I write devotionals, Bible
studies, blogs, personal essays, poetry, book-CD-film-DVD reviews.
I'm married and am the mother of two sons.
